Software Description
MenuTunes is a slick new controller, which provides fast access to iTunes' functions via a menu, and even faster access to via customizable hot keys. It interfaces with the user through beautiful status windows, uses pure AppleEvents for communication with iTunes, and uses no ugly hacks whatsoever.
Stay in control
MenuTunes gives you a fully featured system-wide frontend for controlling iTunes. In addition to standard playback controls, MenuTunes can also change the repeat and shuffle modes, currently selected playlist, and even let you specify a rating for the currently playing track. With MenuTunes' easy to use preferences, you can specify what items the menu should show, and even what order to show them in.
More Than a Menu
Don't want to use a menu to control iTunes? Don't want to use the mouse at all? With MenuTunes, you don't have to. You can opt to use a customizable set of system-wide hot-keys instead. You can even set hot-keys for controlling the repeat and shuffle modes, which, even within iTunes, have no keyboard equivalents.
Know What's Going On
MenuTunes' optional status windows provide a powerful and elegant system designed for one purpose--giving you the information you want, when you want it, and how you want it. Status windows can be set to show various bits of information about the currently playing track, and show feedback to common MenuTunes functions.
See Into the Future
Perhaps the most interesting feature of MenuTunes is its upcoming tracks list. This list, contained in a sub-menu, actually tells you which tracks are set to play next in iTunes. It defaults to five tracks, but you can set the number to whatever you like. This feature is especially effective for those who like to listen to their entire libraries with iTunes set to shuffle. Once enabled, you'll never have to click the next track button repeatedly until you get to a track you want to hear again!
Perfect User Experience
Should the time arrive that you need to delve more in-depth into your music than what MenuTunes provides facilities for, you can always use the "Show iTunes" function, and the iTunes window will pop right up.
