Help! with Icecast/liveice

Hi i'm representing a group of university students. we have been charged with the task of creating a mock internet radio station (its not going live, just going to be on local intranet). we are using Linux 2.2 and liveice. as we have a limited background with linux and general streaming we were wondering if anyone could send us some pointers on how to proceed with this project. thanks for your help.
