TVT settles with Napster but will you subscribe? TVT is the first record label to fully settle with Napster. TVT filed its suit in June 2000. Reports claim the suit sought $150,000 per infringement and that 10,000 separate copyrights were involved. TVT president Steven Gottlieb made the move because of Napster's potential as a revenue stream. TVT will allow master recordings and musical compositions it owns or controls to be used for file sharing on the Napster service. Meanwhile Bertelsmann has publicly stated that it will re-launch Napster with a subscription model in June or July. No prices or subscription fees have been announced by Napster or Bertelsmann. |
