It sounds like you're trying to create a music CD from mp3s. If you want mp3 files on the CD, you have to create a data CD, and specify which files you want on the CD.

: I have searched a lot of sites but never got an answer to my question which requires some explanation so bear with me.

: Now everyone knows of packages out there like mp3 cd converter, adpatec 4, nero etc..that have all got the functionality that allows you to convert your music to MP3. Yes...hope no ones lost interest yet.....

: After converting to MP3 you can then burn the files onto a CDR without any problem (Apart from the physical size restriction of the CD itself i.e. 650mb/700mb etc). You can fit almost 500 file on one cd when burning them straight to cd as data files.

: As long as your audio equipment (car cd player, home cd player, pc etc.) recognises MP3 files then you can listen to your new backup CD.

: This is what most people do but here comes my tricky problem....

: Now what i have done is convert my backup .mp3 files back into an audio cd so that it can be played in a normal cd player instead of mp3 specific ones.

: However, as soon as you try this you can no longer put 500 files on a disk because cd's files can only have 99 tracks. So in theory you would think you could take 99 mp3 files and using something like mp3 cd converter or adaptec 4 burn them straight over onto cd. Wrong...

: I have found this is not possible because all the packages i have tried will always look at the duration time of each mp3 file and not the actual physical size of the file. So if 10 mp3 files are over 74 mintues in time but only about 50mb in size the cdr will not burn due to every package i have tried tellimg me that the duration of the files are too long to fit on the cd even though the physical size is 50mb.

: The only way around this problem is to record continuously the entire cd onto the harddisk as one big 650mb or 700mb wav file and then re-burn it as a cda file. Or find a package which ignores the duration time and looks only at the mb size of each file.

: Any body know of a better way....
: wav files to .mp3 files. So i have taken a .wav file that was 40mb in size and reduced it to 5mb as an .mp3 file. I then convert the .mp3 file back to a .wav file which gives file sizes about 10mb in
