: got a sony md walkman yesterday and spent all day trying to put the software on my pc, but i keep getting a message that says i have an older version of it on my pc please uninstall it first. i do that, but it gives the same message again and again and again etc.. anyone got any ideas on how to solve this. please help Did you ininstall it through the control panel? Did you shut off all unnecessary programs running in the background? Here are some suggestions. Keeo in mind that a multitude of things could be causing your problems. Run "Scandisk" to make sure any data on your hard drive is not corrupted. It of course comes with Windows. Uninstall both the new and old software through the control panel. Install the program Reg Cleaner http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/shtml/regcleaner.shtml Be extremely careful with this program, but use it to identify any leftover registry keys related to your walkman. It is one of the most simple registry tools I've seen. Be extremely careful because if you remove one wrong key, you could screw up a lot of other things on your computer permanently. This kind of problem is best suited for someone with more experience at troubleshooting. An easier and safer registry tool that can sometimes help is here: http://www.toniarts.com/ecleane.htm I cannot emphasize enough... be careful because you can really screw up your computer bad if you mess up your registry. You can screw it up so bad that you have to reinstall your operating system from scratch.
