In Reply to: MP3 To CDA conversion [Not the usual question] posted by Jazzman on November 26, 2002 at 22:03:12:
I don't quite understand your question. CD-audio and CDA should not be confused. CDA is a fake file created by Windows whcih acts as a shortcut to play the real CD-audio track. CD-audio is the format of the tracks themselves. It is raw PCM, very similar in design to an uncompressed WAV file. With CD-audio I believe you may be able to fit more than 99 tracks as long as the total playtime is under 74 or 80 minutes depending on the CD-R media you're using. With MP3 you're certainly only limited by filesize when you burn a data-CD. But when you burn an audio-CD from MP3's, what is taking place is that the MP3's are being converted back to raw PCM and burned to the CD, so you run into the 74- or 80-minute limit again. — But, you understand this already, I think... ? Could you perhaps clarify the question if I have not been of any help?
