I would go with the 320kbps. My reasoning is that, since I actually remember using v3.88, it's tough with LAME to make an MP3 sound at all bad at 320kbps so I'd place the odds of it sounding better than the newer 192kbps MP3 at about 90%.

If it was a FastEnc 320kbps file... I might still go with it. Older versions of FastEnc aren't so great, same with some settings on the newer one, but if it was done using the medium setting (not fast or high-quality (high-quality has a stereo collapse bug))... it would be pretty darned good.
