RCA Lyra RD1028A

My player will not play music stored in the SD card. The SD card icon is displayed when the SD card is in the player. The user manual does not have any special instructions on how to access files from the SD card, so I'm assuming that the player should automatically recognize the files once it recognizes the card inserted in the player. Please help. Thanks.
