GoldWave will also work once you get the AudibleMediaPlayerFilter.exe installed and add the Lamer dll to the Goldwave subdirecty (for MP3 encoder) : Ok, so I finally figured it out... here's the full scope... : Download and install dBpowerAMP Music Converter (dMC): : http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm : Download and install the dBpowerAMP has a DirectShow Codec: : http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-directshow.htm : After installing the DirectShow Codec, a configuration text file will open up, change the .xyz to .aa and save : If the file didn't open automatically, you can access it through: : > Start > Programs > dBPowerAMPMusicConverter > Configure DirectShowDecoder (notepad file) : Download and install Audible Windows Media Player Filter: : http://download.audible.com/webinstall/AudibleMediaPlayerFilter.exe : Run dBPowerAMPMusicConverter : Select Music Files to Convert: : Convert file to Mp3 (Lame) : Click Output to Folder and choose where you want the converted file to go. : Click Convert : The audible .aa format stores bookmark and placeholder information somewhere (possibly in the aa files themselves?) and in some instances this garbles dbPoweramp or the directshow plugin codec somehow. "Rewinding" the placeholder bookmarks to the beginning of the file does not help. If your mp3 doesn't start from the beginning, delete the .aa files, download them again from audible.com personal library. Convert them without listening...
