trying to share my songs!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have over 1800 songs on my pc, and now that i have dsl, would love to share them with others..........
i am able to download, but when others try to get songs, it ALWAYS says"connection timed out".
tried to fix it, but cant seem to get it to work,...HELP!!!!!
