I've read many threads regarding this issue. So far no answer to my questions. Here goes, any help'll do.
I have both a PC and a Mac. On my Mac I have a software called Roxio Jam. I can drag all the mp3/wav files I want into a playlist, then adjust the crossfade between each track individually. I can choose just to overlap the tracks or fade in/fade out. Then I can record directly to CD without any glitch. The result is a perfectly mixed cd. I can even play back the play list and record it to a tape deck attached to my Mac.
Now, on my PC (athlon XP 1600 with SCSI 160 card and 24x TDK) i have had nothing but failure. I have bought EZ-cd creator platinum and actually returned it to roxio for a refund as it would not cross fade properly. Nero Rom only allows 4 second crossfades and will not allow overlapping of files (for songs that already fade in and fade out). I have tried WinAmp plug ins but as soon as I choose gapless playback the volume diminishes (?). Nothing seems to give me the freedom I have on my mac.
Am I doing somethng wrong here? Is it really that impossible to compile a list of songs, choose the type of overlap or crossfade, then either play it or record to cd? WASSUPP.. someone set me straight here !
