mp3 player dos error

Can anyone tell me how to get around this. I can play the music files on my desk top no problem. But when I disconnect my MP3 and try and play them wareing head phones it keeps on coming up with dos error. Its 128mb digital MP3 player, with no name on it. Do I need drivers?
