Visual-Land Dos Error!

My daughter accidentally re-formatted her MP3 player, and now it says 'Dos Error!', and nothing works. Our computer didn't recognize the player, so my husband attempted to format it through the computer. We can now down load a song into a file, but it wont play, and the player's screen still says 'Dos Error!'. I've attempted to contact Visual-Land, but no response. Can anyone help?!
