MP3 channel split problem

Is there any utility which allows to split an MP3 stereo file to two mono MP3 files containing only left or right channel of original file? I know I can do this easily by converting MP3 to WAV then split to mono files and compress back to MP3 files. But I want to do this without re-compression; similarly as I can split MP3 file to a sections without re-compression. Thanks for your help.
