I used to think that too but I find, after downloading way too many MP3s over the years,. that when I burn 128kbps MP3s to an audio CD it usually sounds pretty hollow and tinny. 192kbps sounds a lot better. Anything up to 256kbps is good. Anything over that is just excessive. Once you get that high you really don't notice it. I'd recommend 192-256 for general purposes, unless you're REALLY fussy or slightly deaf.
