To reply to your footnote, you are wrong and right at the same time. You are right about multitracking, there is no set tracks for each set of instruments or vocals. MP3s are merged down to a left and right channel so all the sound is alread molded together.

It is similar to say that mixed audio is like mixing paint, you can mix in yellow paint (vocals) and red paint (intrumentals) however you end up with orang paint, the two colors are now one however both are present.

There is ways to remove vocals from the song, i will not explane how to do this because i do not have the time or patience to explain it sorry. This process involves removing differnt ranges of sound from you music.
