I've recorded everything at 128kbps, would you say that there is a much improved sound quality if I increase to 192kbps or is it so slight I'm unlikely to notice it? Also, what would you recommend as the ideal kbps if I was to increase it? : Thanks again. : : If you use MusicMatch, especially if you encode all your MP3's at 128kbps, then yes, MP3pro will sound as good or better and take up less space than your current MP3's. : : If you make high quality MP3's (192kbps and up), then MP3pro won't sound as good. : : Converting MP3 to MP3pro is called transcoding, and it's a bad idea. It's like recording a cassette tape to another cassette tape - the new file cannot be any better than the old one; it can only sound worse. : : So, if in the end you decide to change your collection to MP3pro format, remember to do it fresh from the actual music-CD's. : : Also - the iPod does not support MP3pro. You will be able to play MP3pro files on the iPod, but they won't sound even close to as good as they're supposed to.
