Yeah this happens a fair bit with WinMX for a lot of people. Usually it comes down to firewalls. If you take a look at the alt.music.mp3.winmx newsgroup the question comes up a lot and the general response is to try it without a firewall on and turn off any anti-leech tools.

: Wondering if you could help me, i have been using winmx for ages and everything has been going fine, but recently i have not been able to download anything. Everytime i try it says that the connection has timed out or timed out (waiting for network reply). Dont understand what going on, any help will be much appriciated
