Try MusicBrainz http://www.musicbrainz.org/index.html You can download their free utility called MusicBrainz tagger. This queries the MusicBrainz database and correctly tags individual artists. : Thanks for your advice Michael. : Unfortunately OSS ruined some dlls from my System folder so I uninstalled that and repaired the damaged files. I'm not happy using sw that does this. : Fast CD Ripper is great. I've realised that there is a limitation in the freedb and cddb services that won't allow different artists for tracks within an album. This is a bit of a pain! : I've written a macro that can obtain the correct text from a given cd on freedb and convert this into a table of track and artist. : I now need some software that will allow me to take this table and paste it into the front end GUI, hit update and the ID3 tags are altered. : Does anyone have any suggestions? : : Hey... : : Give these programs a shot... : : OSS CD Ripper and ID3V2 Tag Editor. : : Fast CD Ripper 1.5. : : : : I'm looking for some software that will allow me to enter the ID3 info looked up from a CDDB in a decent manner. : : : I rip a lot of compilations and I want the artist field to be correct for all the various artists on any one cd. I'm amazed that all rippers don't do this. : : : I'd also like to be able to specify the mp3 file name as only the track name (not the artist as well) and to be able to rip them into a folder by the album name. : : : The other thing that gets on my nerves is the track number being labelled 1,2,3... rather than 01,02,03... : : : Thanks in advance for your help and sw suggestions.
