Playing MP3 CDs on a PC

When I play MP3s I have recorded on to a CD on the PC, the PC appears to spin them at very high speed continuously. This is very noisy and intrusive on quieter parts of the music. Is this just how it is or can anything be done? eg Can I record differently to avoid this problem.
