Well, I've tried using all the most common players out there but to no avail. I primarily use Windows Media Player 9, but I tried playing these corrupt files in WInamp 3, Winamp 2.91, Musicmatch Jukebox, and RealPlayer. WMP and the Winamps all play the variable bit rate sections of the song as a loud, high-pitched screeching sound, while Musicmatch and RealPlayer simply play no sound at all.

As for my unfortunate tendency to run into these files, you could be right since I encounter the most problems when I am looking to download contemporary pop music. It sure is annoying, but I guess the extra time spent finding a good file is better than having to fork over big bucks for CDs containing only one or two good songs.
