Thinking too big there my son : ) I'm guessing that you're having the same problem that I am in that OpenMG won't let you rip Mpegs because they either have no copywrite info or the codec isn't recognised. The solution is to convert the MP3 in to a codec that it recognises that has no copywrite info attatched like a 16bit, stereo wav file.

The best way I've found to do this is to use a freeware package called Goldwave. I downloaded V4.25, it looks like it came off the ark and works fine. Reccomend looking at www.goldwave.com for a later copy.

So this is how I've been doing it.

To Begin: Create a desktop folder called something like 'Temp Wav files'. Now Open Goldwave.

How too: Under the file menu in goldwave open the 'Batch Conversion...' option. In the resulting window click the 'Add Files..' button that will open a browser. In the browser, select the mp3 file(s) that you wish to convert and open them. This will return you to the Batch conversion window and the you'll be able to see the files under 'Files to Convert'

Under 'Destination settings' select:
File type: Wave (*.wav)
Attributes: 16 Bit, Stereo, Signed
Destination folder: browse and select the desktop folder you created earlier.

Click 'begin'

A progress window will then pop up with 'deflashing to disk'. Goldwave will then convert all the selected mp3s in to wav files in the destination folder.

From here all you have to do is rip the resulting Wav files to your NetMD using OpenMG (which I'm guessing you're already familliar with)

Tips:

Name your MP3s 'arist - song' before conversion as when you eventually rip them to MD that's what the display will read.

Delete the Wav files immediately after you rip them as they are a waste of space if you have the same song in Mp3 format anyway.

Importing whole albums in folders is a lot easier than grouping them after importing.

Be good to your mother and support local music.
