I ran into the same problems with Goldwave locking up. Have it working great now. Uninstalled Audible (after having saved all .aa files to another folder) telling it to also uninstall the Media Player codec (told it to uninstall everything). Downloaded the old Audible manager from http://download.audible.com/AM35/CD/AM_CDBurner.exe and installed it. Goldwave works great now. BTW, Goldwave 5.xx has an 'autocue' fxn where it will put a cue every 3 minutes (you specify), then split the file. It's very slick. Goldwave is SOOO worth supporting - I'm intensely impressed with this program. : : : : : Hi there, : : : : : I just started using Audible today with Goldwave, and I noticed the same thing. Here is what I did: : : : : : When the meter reaches 99%, press the "back" button on the Audible section navigator box. : : : : : It appears that Goldwave is expecting about 10 seconds more audio than the Audible program is providing, so by pressing the back button, you repeat 10 seconds from the last section. : : : : : Where did those 10 seconds go? : : : : Ok - finally got it to work, but it is a long, convoluted process that costs me a blank CD every time. : : : : 1. Install the roxio CD plugin for Audible and begin a burn. The individual tracks are written into a temp file as open wav files. : : : : 2. While the CD is burning, copy the temp wav files into another folder. (if you cancel the burn, Audible will erase the temp files). : : : : 3. Optional, rename the files with a utility so the MP3 tags will make sense. : : : : 4. Convert the wavs to mp3s with Goldwave : : : : I am still open to someone that can simplify this process. Seems like a heck of a lot of trouble to go through just to get to listen to the WSJ every morning! : : : : Thanks, : : : : William : : : : : : Actually, you can do it without wasting a CD if you eject the CD while Roxio is preparing the .WAV files. This is the method I have been using because it is faster than GoldWave. I only wish I could fool Roxio into thinking I had a bigger "CD" (like 4 GB) in the drive. : : IF you got stuck at any percent during the deflashing to disk. Just click the rewind button in the small Audible windows next to it. : : - - - - - - - : I just signed up for Audible a couple days ago. I tried using Goldwave to convert the .aa files to MP3 and get the same lockup at 99% deflashed. : I have used the "Burn CD" solution (without a CD in the drive) to obtain .WAV files which can then be converted to MP3. However, this solution does not work for "Car Talk" as Audible does not allow this to be burned to CD at all (why, I do not know). : So, for those files that cannot be coverted to .WAV in the CD Burning process AND to provide a better .aa to .mp3 process, does anyone else know how to do this conversion? Please!
