Above All Things was formed in the summer of '95 by brothers Daniel and Magnus Sälgström in the swedish town Borlänge. The group was a pure studio project until September 2002, when Above All Things did it's first public performance. The current line-up has been since 2002, as Fredrik Sälgström became a member in January and Martin Eklund (who had been a member since 1999) left the group in the summer the same year only to contribute with songs. Above All Things music is best described as varied within the frame of keyboard based pop. "We don't want to limit ourselves any further but simply make music that we like and feel for. It is hard to point out any certain influences, but Mike & The Mechanics, Phil Collins, Sting, Asia, Depeche Mode, Van Halen, Bryan Adams, Savage Garden, Michael Learns To Rock, Iron Maiden, Lighthouse Family, Kiss and the Cheiron-team are groups, artists and songwriters that we like to listen to and therefore naturally get inspired and influenced by". Apart from Above All Things, every member of the band has big experience of the stage and also in real studio work. Magnus has played three leading rolls in plays by Borlänge Musikteater, performed live in national television and been a drummer in various local bands. Fredrik took part in Fame in the autumn of 2001 as a singer and dancer, and have since the middle of the 90's had a song writing collaboration with Daniel. The latter, who has written and produced most of Above All Things song material, has also taken part in stage settings by Borlänge Musikteater, as well as being a keyboard player, drummer and singer in several local bands. |
